Due to the recommendations from government and public health officials aimed at protecting public health and slowing the spread of COVID-19, which relate to events and gatherings, we are postponing our upcoming Northern and Southern California Regional Education Policy Summits.
CLSBA takes the health, well-being, and safety of the community seriously, and we have continuously monitored the developments over recent days to make the best decision for our attendees and the greater community. Given the World Health Organization’s designation of COVID-19 as a global pandemic, Governor Gavin Newsom’s announcement that gatherings over 250 people should be postponed or canceled, it became clear that regional summits should take place after May 2020, and even possibly, a later date depending on the progression of COVID-19 in our state.
We know that with growing concerns about COVID-19, protecting the health and well-being of the students we serve, is incredibly important to school board members. Together, we have the responsibility to do our part by prioritizing the best interests of our students and the community at large.
Please continue to stay updated by checking CLSBA’s social media and your email for communication about our new CLSBA Northern and Southern California Regional Education Policy Summit dates. We do not take this decision lightly and encourage those with questions or concerns to reach out to CLSBA board president, Oscar De La Torre, at firstname.lastname@example.org. As we navigate the days and weeks ahead, we welcome your feedback and requests for support and resources.
The California School Board Association (CSBA) has created a special webpage devoted to COVID-19 atwww.csba.org/coronavirus. On this webpage, CSBA provides information and guidance that can help school leaders confront the difficult decisions involved with COVID-19. As we continue to monitor the reach and impact of COVID-19, we will continue to share resources provided by CSBA and our partners on the CLSBA website. With much respect for our community and the students we serve,
